This is an alternate way to visualize demographic change in St. Petersburg, FL between 1970 and 2010. Each box represents a single age category; the size of each box represents that age group's share of the city's population relative to all other age groups.
This design began as a mosaic plot, but I didn't feel like that plot was particularly easy to read or very informative. Hopefully this works better.
